Add-in Express 2009 – Beta 1 what’s fixed

As compared to the previous generation, Add-in Express 2009 doesn't contain revolutionary changes or enhancements. We didn’t rewrite the core code completely, a major part of the time was spent on the most in-demand features, such as Outlook view and form regions and Excel, Word and PowerPoint task panes. Besides that, we focused on quality and fixed all the most critical bugs and known issues. In principle, we were about to break our traditions and publish the release this week, abandoning any beta testing. But stereotypes and conservatives in our midst prevailed, and here is the result – beta 1 :-)

Below you can see a full list of more or less essential bugs and issues fixed in beta 1.

Add-in Express 2009 for Office and .net

  • ADXOlForm did not show up for a WordMail inspector when Outlook 2003 was launched by the call: mailto:?subject=Test.
  • The ADXExcelTaskPanesManager.ADXBeforeTaskPaneInstanceCreate event was not raised when the ADXExcelTaskPanesCollectionItem.CreateTaskPaneInstance method was called.
  • XLL and Excel Automation add-ins were registered only in one version of Excel installed on the PC.
  • The ADXBuiltInControl component didn’t connect to several controls with the same Id.
  • The Shared Add-in Support Update prerequisite was required for XLL add-ins.
  • A bug with Simple MAPI security warnings in some versions of Outlook 2007.
  • Command bars might not have appeared in Outlook 2007 if it was created via Automation.
  • The System.NullReferenceException exception in the AddinExpress.Extensions.ADXForm.WndProc method.
  • A problem with installation on the Turkey system.
  • The Pressed property of the ADXRibbonSplitButton component didn’t refresh the button's state at runtime.
  • The SyncError, SyncProgress, SyncEnd and SyncStart events of the ADXOutlookAppEvents component didn’t return the correct sync object type.
  • The main window of the Visio application might have appeared while the add-in was unregistered.

Add-in Express 2009 for Office and VCL

  • The Built-in Control Connector didn’t intercept command bar buttons with ID=32768 in Outlook.
  • The Built-in Control Connector didn’t reconnect to some command bar controls when the user navigated to another folder or opened a context menu in Outlook, say ID=568.
  • The Built-in Control Connector didn’t process controls correctly when the CommandBar property was specified.
  • TadxEventSink.Disconnect fired an exception in some scenarios.
  • TadxMainMenu didn’t show custom controls in Outlook 2007.
  • Bug with Simple MAPI security warnings in some versions of Outlook 2007.

  • Incorrect behavior of the LoadAtStartup property in the ADXIEBarItem and ADXIEToolBarItem components.
  • ‘No such interface supported’ exception was raised when a PDF document was opened in IE.
  • Context menu items didn’t appear on RSS pages.
