Add-in Express sim-ships with Visual Studio 2015 and Office 2016 Preview

I am happy to report good news to all Add-in Express users – we are one of the Microsoft partners to sim-ship our products together with the Visual Studio 2015 RC and Office 2016 Preview.

Add-in Express has committed to support the new VS version within 30 days of the releases of Visual Studio 2015 RC. So, you will be able to enjoy a fully compatible Add-in Express version when you install Visual Studio 2015 on the release day!

Since Microsoft has already published Office 2016 Preview, we decided to support it as well in the new version of Add-in Express for Office and .net.

The new versions of the following products are available:

Add-in Express for Office and .net – all-in-one framework for developing commercial class extensions for Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. The support for Visual Studio 2015 and Office 2016 Preview is added in the new major version 8, the first Beta is available for download on our web-site as well as on the Visual Studio Gallery.

Designer for WiX Toolset – an extension for Visual Studio that allows creating WiX-based setup projects in a familiar Visual Studio way. The new minor version supporting Visual Studio 2015 is published on the download page.

Please stay tuned for more information. We are going to send new license keys to Professional and Premium customers of Add-in Express for Office and .net with active subscriptions within the next few days.

How will this affect Addin Express? Will we be able to publish our Excel addins on Windows Store?

    Hi Mattias,

I am not sure I fully understand your question. I can assume you are asking about the Desktop App Converter. If so, I think it won’t affect Add-in Express in any way because, as far as I understand, this converter is purposed for converting applications (executables) only. If you are asking about something different, please clarify.

    >> Will we be able to publish our Excel addins on Windows Store?

Of course, you will. Moreover, nothing prevents you from doing it right now. For example, you can find “Ultimate Suite for Microsoft Excel” created with Add-in Express on the Windows Store.
