This week is a bit of a slow news week here at the Office 365 news desk and the Office 365 Newswire reflects this situation. I think when you see the first news item you will see just exactly what I mean. But fret not. Summer is coming and with its arrival, there just might be an Office 15 beta. If this rumor proves true… might there also be a beta of Office 365? As I say almost every single day:

- Office 365 goes to the movies :: Where are my petit fours? The USS Fabrikam? Russle up a posse? Well Cletus, watch this movie to see how the plot unfolds. If you like cheese, these are pretty funny. I am ashamed I laughed at each one. It is proof I’m a legitimate dork.
- What’s new in Microsoft’s Office 365? There’s a wiki for that :: MJF making her rather routine appearance at the newswire. You should probably just bookmark her blog and subscribe to it via your favorite RSS news reader. To add a little value, I think I’ll start stating her main point here and then telling you the first thing that comes to my mind. What do you think? Let’s try it. MJF gist=Microsoft has Wiki to remind of all the new stuff they have added. My Take=I’m ready of Office 365 wave 15.
- Office 365 Could ultimately fail. Not! :: This headline is straight from the early 90s… NOT! This is a point, counter point regarding last week’s news item where someone had the audacity to say Office 365 will fail.
- Small business competency and Office 365 certification path :: If you are into certifications, here is more news regarding Office 365’s certification program. I don’t have a high opinion of certification programs. I won’t tell you why for risk of offending anyone with certifications.
Office 365 tips, tricks & tools
- SharePoint Online makes PowerPoint slide libraries available via the cloud :: PowerPoint slide libraries is a feature I really want to investigate. It is on my list but I have not been able to get to it. I have a few (what I believe to be) good ideas for apps take advantage of them. I bet you do too. This is a good article. It defines the problem that slide libraries solve and then digs in deeper. Oh… it also includes plenty of screenshots which makes me happy.
- Office 365 Point of view videos [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] :: This is a 5 part series but only four have been published. The series explains Office 365’s features (email, SharePoint, Lync, etc) from a “worker’s” point of view. Not sure what type of worker. I find this to be a funny word. Have you ever looked at a word and thought about it too much? To the point where you think it should be spelled the way it is? I have. I’m doing it right now… worker, worker, worker, worker… .

- SharePoint on-premise and online development with CloudShare and Visual Studio 11 Beta :: I stumbled onto the CloudShare guys a few months ago. I use their service and really like it. It has solved some big problems for me related to SharePoint development and for doing demos. No more slow virtual machines! Check them out, they are a time saver and the price is very reasonable.
- 10 useful tools for Microsoft .net developers :: I always like to see what tools other developer use. I play tennis and this is similar to hitting a few tennis balls using your buddies racket. It’s fun to see what others use and why.
