Hi,

I've noted http://www.add-in-express.com/creating-addins-blog/2010/04/21/outlook-2010-regions/ that ReadingPane and TopReadingPane regions are "still under construction" for Outlook 2010. They still don't work in Beta 2. Will they be supported in the final release?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

In the final release they will work if Outlook Social Connector is turned OFF in the list of Outlook add-ins. In fact, we will continue working on supporting those regions if the Outlook Social Connector is on.

Hi,

I hope you will find a solution to this; beacause Social Connector is On by default in Outlook 2010 ... Will this be high enough on your priority list after your official release so we could expect an upgrade later ?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

Yes, we are going to find a solution. In fact, we have a raw schema but it requires growing flesh. Most probably, we will publish such a solution in July.

Greetings,

We are running into this problem as well. I'm really glad you guys are on top of this. What a terrible plugin. Errr... what a great plugin, but what a terrible side effect.

Will be watching for the Social addin Reading Pane fix. You guys rock!

Hi Sam,

In 2-3 weeks, we are going to publish a version supporting TopReadingPane, BottomReadingPane, LeftReadingPane, and RightReadingPane values of the ExplorerLayout porperty even if the Outlook Social Connector add-in is enabled in Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010.

Note that this version will not support ExplorerLayout=ReadingPane if the Outlook Social Connector is enabled in these Outlook versions. We will continue our efforts to make that layout available for you. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the timeline for this will be.

Hi Andrei,

This is good news. Our "immediate" needs is TopReadingPane (we have a small feature relying on this).

Unfortunately, we have some pending features which was planned to use ReadingPane... I'll put them on hold (at least it is not a breaking change at this stage!)

Thanks!

Hi Sam,

I'm sorry, I have bad news. In the upcoming version (6.1) of Add-in Express 2010 we have a number of serious problems with showing custom panes in the Preview Pane when the Outlook Social Connector add-in is on in Outlook 2003-2010. Because we are unable to solve them in time, we have decided to postpone support for all Reading Pane related layouts with OSC enabled and add it in version 6.2, which is scheduled for September.

For about an hour I was trying to figure out why my form, which worked fine in Outlook 2007, was not displaying at all in Outlook 2010!
Then I noticed that it did show when I double-clicked and opened the email in a separate window.
That's when I searched the forums for problems with the Preview Pane and found this.

As you posted, the form displayed once I disabled the Outlook Social Connector.

Thanks.
