Selected item in Inbox folder is flashing orange

Selected item in Inbox folder is flashing orange
what does this mean ?

I am developing an Outlook Add-in, and when I do certain actions (such as closing a context menu on an ADX Extension Outlook Form), the currently selected mail row in the inbox starts flashing between the usual blue (default blue XP theme) selection color and some orange color. It flashes once a second.

Does anybody know why Outlook does this and what does it mean and how can I stop outlook doing this?
