While installing the Add-In Express version v904-b4644-vs-pre an exception occurs after the licence activation at the installer step "Registering Add-in Express for Micrososft Office and .NET" saying that the the type "AdddinExpress.MSO.ADXAddinModule" in assembly "Installer.2005, Version=9.4.4644.0, Culture=neutral..." could not be loaded. After confirming the exception the installation gets rolled back.

There is no full MS Office installed on the machine, only MS Project. The OS version is Windows 10 v1903. There is and was no other version of Add-In Express installed on this machine.

Hello Simon,

Start with removing all (if any) Add-in Express assemblies from GAC.

Then follow the suggestions below:

Close all Visual Studio instances and make sure there's no devenv.exe processes hanging in the Processes tab of the Task Manager window before you start the installer.

Make sure you are an administrator on the PC.

Set UAC to its default level.

In Control Panel | System | Advanced | Performance | Settings | Data Execution Prevention, set the "... for essential Windows programs and services only" flag.

Remove the following registry key, if it exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Add-in Express\{product identifier} {version} {package}
Run setup.exe, not .MSI. If this is applicable, run setup.exe by right clicking it and choosing "Run as administrator" in the context menu.

If the above steps did not help, please restart your machine and run the installer. If the error persists, turn your antivirus software off for a while, install the product, and then turn the antivirus on again.

Hello Andrei,

Thank you for your detailed answer! I have followed all of the suggestions as described by you, but without success. It still comes to the exception.

By the way, only Visual Studio 2019 and MS Project 2019 are installed on the machine. Installation of the rest of the Office Suit has not been successful either.

Is the problem known? What other possibilities are there to solve the problem?

Hello Simon,

Typically, this issue occurs because an Add-in Express assembly exists in GAC. Sometimes, this relates to an antivirus that blocks or deletes some files.

Could you please capture a video showing all the installation steps and send it to the support email address? You can find it in {Add-in Express installation folder}\readme.txt; please make sure your email contains a link to this topic.

Also, what antivirus are you using?

The installer of Add-in Express doesn't check whether you have any Office application installed or not.
