MSI and Firefox
Is MSI Installer not compatible with Firefox

Hello

I have a click Twice Installer with MSI which runs perfect with Microsoft Internet Explorer through a link to our website..

When I try to install the setup program with Firefox I can only save the alera.exe file and when I want to run it from the download folder I get

alera.exe is not a valid Win 32 application.

What could be the cause and how to rectify it?

Thank you and kind regards

This behavior is defined in Firefox settings.

I would check the antivirus log.

Dear Andrei,

I checked the virus log an found only

2AC02BED-480E-4564-9122-78206DF1326C_pcrepairkit_setup.exe Objektname: UDS:Hoax.Win32.PCRepair.gen

POInstaller.exe Objektname: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.RK.og

but both have been removed by Kaspersky a month ago. Nothing else to be found I also checked the Kaspersky detailed event log, and nothing was logged during the time, when I tried to run alera.exe downloaded with firefox.

To reproduce the issue, I installed again from FireFox and it worked perfect. So the issue has sorted itself out.

Thank you & kind regards

Does it work correctly if run on your machine?

Dear Andrei,

All the above refers to my machine. So far I do all the developing and testing on one machine with

Windows 7 professional

Microsoft Office professional 2010

EXCEL 14.0.7212.500 (32bit)

I use the "old" Versions deliberately as I assume that it will be upwards compatible with no problem. We test from time to time on machines with newer versions and have not experienced any problems.

But as said above the error does not happen anymore.

by the way I still use AddIn Express Version 8 as I wanted to wait for the upgrade till there are no more issue posts in the forum.

thanks & kind regards

This is a valid approach.
