Hi,

just wondering if you have any experience with the new Simplified Ribbon as described here:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/use-the-simplified-ribbon-44bef9c3-295d-4092-b7f0-f471fa629a98?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Especially how integrations via ADX objects to the classic Ribbon will be handled? Would it be possible to programatically access the simplified Ribbon?

Furthermoe: Would there be a new version of ADX for Office 2019? What kind of changes do we have to expect?

Thanks for any informations, mabey links or blog articles on this!

Hello HJB,

Our understanding of Office 2019 is based on this citation from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4133311/how-to-participate-in-the-office-2019-commercial-preview-program:

IMPORTANT
This preview program isn?Â?Ð?ét intended for organizations that plan to deploy or have already deployed Office as part of an Office 365 subscription plan. The Office apps that are included in Office 365 already have all the features that will be available in the perpetual (volume licensed) version of Office 2019.

That is, simplifying a bit, it looks like they are going to rename a new weekly build of Office 2016 to Office 2019.

As to the simplified Ribbon, I don't think it influences the programmatic aspects of creating Ribbon controls. To find out if I'm wrong, we will need to wait for Microsoft to publish the corresponding API.
