Excel Add-in not initializing and can't be enabled in COM add-ins

Hi,

I had a crash in Excel and when I opened it again it asked me whether I want to disable my add-in. I clicked yes.

Since then, the add-in appears in the COM add-ins list, but when I check it and press "OK", it doesn't initialize (I don't even get to the "Initialize" event) and when I open the list again, it is still unchecked.

Uregistering and registering the project again didn't help.

What could be the reason and how do I undo this?

Thanks

Hi Keren.

What version of Visual Studio do you use?

In Excel, go to "Help", then "About". On the bottom of the about dialog there is a button for "Disabled Items". Check to see if the addin is listed there (if so, select it and click the enable button).

Somehow the problem vanished, but now it happens again.

I'm using VS 2005, and the add-in is not on the "Disabled items" list.

Now I can see the add-in menu, but clicking the buttons doesn't do anything.

What can be the reason for this?
