Hello,

I'm having an issue with my Excel COM addin on Windows 10 Creators update 1709 and specifically once you upgrade to Excel 2016 Version 1710. I've narrowed it down to this specific combination.

If you run Excel 1710 on Windows 10 prior to the Creators update the addin works fine. Also, if you run a prior version of Excel on Windows 10 Creators update the addin works fine. With this combination Excel crashes immediately upon launch with my addin installed. I also have an XLL addin which works fine, it's the COM portion specifically.

If I attempt to debug the issue, no exceptions are caught. Could you please test this specific version combination with an Excel COM addin and see if you can reproduce and what we might do to fix it?

Hello Mark,

Does the issue occur with a new empty add-in?

Can it be so that your add-in uses an ADXContextMenu to customize a context menu in Excel? If so, the crash is something that relates to Excel; see https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/86075e88-0371-40aa-9c2a-8f2afb72877f/creating-a-commandbar-control-on-a-context-menu-crashes-excel-2016?forum=exceldev.

Hi Andrei,

Indeed this is the same issue, I removed the context menu from my Addin and all is good. It seems you are already working with Microsoft for a fix on this. Thanks!
