Currently, I am searching sub-folders under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\<PROFILE NAME>
for the registry key "00036601"

However, this key does not always seem to be present. Is there a better way to check if Outlook has cached exchange mode enabled? Or are there different locations for different versions of outlook?

Thanks for the response. I saw that post as well. We are already using methods described there to find the registry key. However, that key does not seem to exist on all machines for all profiles. It looks as if that key isn't used for Outlook 2013 so we are hoping to find another method that works with that version of Outlook

Have you tried checking Store.IsCachedExchange? Please see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff863016%28v=office.15%29.aspx.
