Unable to create New Setup Project
All options grayed out

My problem is the same as the one described in this post:

http://www.add-in-express.com/forum/read.php?FID=5&TID=11065

I have Visual Studio 2012, so this explains why the Visual Studio Installer is not an option. I then installed InstallShield 2011 on the machine. All three options are still grayed out. According to the Add-In Express documentation "The setup project wizard supports creating setup projects for InstallShield 2009 Professional and higher".

Do I have to go the WiX route instead? I would prefer IS since our other products are based on this installer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Gary,

Is it InstallShield 2011 Express? If yes, it doesn't provide an adequate object model and Add-in Express cannot support it.

Do you have Add-in Express for Office and .NET 7.2.4055 installed?

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for your response. I have InstallShield 2011 Professional installed (Version 17 with Hotfix A) as well as Add-in Express for Office and .NET version 7.2.4055.2005.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Hello Gary,

I suppose InstallShield 2011 doesn't support VS 2012. You can try to create a new IS project. Also, you can check if IS mentioned in the About window of VS.

That makes sense. I'll plan to either upgrade IS or give WiX a try.

Thanks again for the help.
