Security Manager for Outlook - Install failure
Install is failing to access the user profile Installer folder

I am failing at the first hurdle with Security Manager for Outlook.

After validating the license key, the product starts to install, but fails with the error:
"The Specified path 'C:\Users\{username}\OneDrive\AppData\Microsoft\Installer\' is unavailable"

Is there a potential install conflict with OneDrive profiles?

The installer has been run with elevated admin permissions.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Security Manager for Microsoft Outlook is a per-machine installation package and shall be installed into a per-machine folder, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Add-in Express\Security Manager for Microsoft Outlook\

Please try this on your side and let me know if the issue still exists.

I have not changed the default install location of the application. The path you have specified is the default.

The problem appears to be when the installer is accessing a users profile which is managed by our organisation using OneDrive.

Have you tested the install on user working with OneDrive profiles before?

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the explanation and sorry for the inconvenience.

As far as I understand, you have the well known AppData\Roaming folder moved to OneDrive, correct? We haven't tested this scenario. Moreover, it seems a WiX based installation package causes this issue. As far as I can see, it places icons (for the installed applications shown in Apps & Features) into this folder.

Could you please create the AppData\Microsoft\Installer folder in your OneDrive and try to install Security Manager anew?

The user profile folder for the Installer already exists and I have tried granting full permission to Everyone. The installation still fails with the above mentioned error messaged, stating that the path is unavailable.

I am a local admin of the virtual machine and I am using the Run as Admin option when running the Setup.exe.

Hi Paul,

Sorry, I have no ideas at the moment.

Is it possible to (temporarily) disable a OneDrive profile for your account?

Hi Paul,

Sorry for bothering you, but have you managed to install Security Manager successfully?

Hi Paul,

We have just found the following thread:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/53010/msi-installation-with-folder-redirection-fails.html

It seems this is a known problem in Window 10. Do you have 1809 or a most recent version of Windows 10? Could you please try to install other per-machine MSI packages in your environment?
