How do I make my add-on compatible with Enhanced Protected Mode in IE10 + on Windows 8?

Currently my add-on gets disabled when turning on Enhanced Protected Mode

Thanks

Hi Ian,

You can read about the EPM-compatibility here (see the 'Add-ons in Enhanced Protected Mode' chapter): http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2012/03/23/understanding-ie10-enhanced-protected-mode-network-security-addons-cookies-metro-desktop.aspx
We will implement this feature in the next build of the product.

Hi Sergey,

Do you know roughly when the next build will be available?

Thanks

Hi Ian,

I think that it will be published this month.

Are we still on target for a release this month?

Hello,

We published a new version of the Add-in Express for IE product (v8.3.5068). It supports Enhanced Protected Mode (EPM) now.

I have 8.3.5068.0 installed and now the toolbar is compatible but it does not display when enabled.

Environment:
Windows 8 64-bit (All updates applied)
.NET 4 Client Profile
IE 10 (All updates applied)
Visual Studio 2012 Prof.

Observations:
Before updating to 8.3.5068.0 I will get the warning from IE stating that the add-on is not compatible.
After updating the warning is gone and the enable prompt is presented.
The toolbar does not display after clicking enable (even creating a simple new toolbar with one button).

The add-on shows as enabled from Manage Add-Ons. Here's what more info shows:
Name: IEToolbarModule

Hello Etienne,

Unregister your toolbar project, start IE, close IE, set the Output path (your project | Properties | Build) to a folder within the {Program Files} folder, and register the toolbar project. Does this work?

Andrei,

That worked, thanks.

Can you perhaps explain why it has be from Program Files when EPM is enabled?
