Or is it possible to install the current version on BDS 2006?

Hi Fernando,

We have a tested build for Delphi for Microsoft Win32 2006 that will be on the Borland Parther DVD. But we will publish it as soon as Borland releases BDS 2006.

Well, BDS 2006 is out already and people all over the world are receiving it and starting to give their 1st impressions on it! :)

Out of curiosity: did BDS 2006 break many things on Add-In Express, was it a simply re-compile thing or something in between these two?

Hi Fernando,

It was just a rebuild.

Where can I download V 2.3 for BDS 2006? The one on the Partner DVD is a trial version, and the one on your site with the SAME version does not install on BDS 2006...

Sidenote: staying with the exact same version number is a bit misleading in this case... You could have named it 2.3.1 or 2.3a or something, even if it does not add new features as now there's a couple of equal but different versions numbered the same...

Never mind: I'll wait!

For the meantime, I simply copied the Source folder from the 2.3 FULL version to the trial's source folder, added a {$IFDEF VER180} block on adxDefs.inc (copied from the VER170 but replacing the ADX_VCL9 for an ADX_VCL10 symbol), and duplicated all {$IFDEF ADX_VCL9} blocks in adxAddIn.pas replacing the ADX_VCL9 for an ADX_VCL10 equivalent.

Project build, moved the DCUs into the proper D10Units folder 'et voilá': instant Add-In Express 2.3 with support for BDS 2006, so, for the moment, I'm back to business...

I can't however understand why does it take you so long to put the proper version on your site as you've done the installer for the trial, which means that you already know which reg keys to look for to detect and install in BDS 2006, so it should only be a couple of minutes to do the same to the full installer...

BTW: You could make your code simpler by defining some more "intermediate" symbols: I noticed that, at 1st look, code for Delphi 7, 2005 and 2006 is the same, so you could define an ADX_VCL7_9_10 or something and reduce the number of $IFDEF code blocks. Just a thought...

Hello Fernando,

It seems to be me who should answer your question.

We have some plans of Add-in Express development. And I'm afraid the support of Borland's racing is not our primary goal. Nothing personal. :-)

No problem: as I said above, I'm up and running, so I can perfectly well wait! :)

As for your agenda, that's your agenda and I respect it: it's just that, with all you've done so far, having a BDS 2006 compatible build out there seemed like something you could do on a coffee break, so I had to ask! :)

BDS 2006 looks and feels SO much more stable and faster than BDS 2005, that I simply MUST use it instead, but, since I've found a way around the installation, I can wait for the new build for as long as it has to be.

Hopefully support of your customers is a primary goal. You have an excellent product. I would very much like to use it in BDS 2006.

Any idea when you will release an update?
