Hi,

I've the following problem using addinexpress vcl 2.6:

when i click a button on a commandbar the normal.dot is changed (i can see the saving progress bar when i quit word afterwards), but with other (standard office) buttons this problem does not exist, only with my own buttons. Why is that so? Why has the normal.dot to be changed? The temporary setting is set to false, but the behaviour doesn't change when i set it to true. Some customers do not like this behaviour, as word sometimes asks them to save the normal.dot but word has some problems with that, because often the normal.dot then is locked?!

Hi Lukas,

The Normal.dot template contains all custom settings of the user. I.e. if the user switches some standard command bar on or off, adds or removes some button to the command bar, this template will have to be saved. The same is for custom command bars.

You can try to add to your add-in the code that will save this template automatically when the add-in finalizes.

As to the Normal.dot locking, this may happen when MS Word hangs.
