Is there an API for the "hint bar"?

As the title says, is it somehow possible for an addin to display custom messages on the "hint bar", i.e. the small band that appears at the top of Outlook inspector windows (not sure whether these are maybe used somewhere else in Office, too) for messages such as "Extra line breaks in this message were removed" or "Click here to download pictures."?

I'm really trying to get rid of unnecessary modal messages boxes, especially as I find that modality has become rather quirky in Office 2010 and Windows 7. Despite all hacks I still occasionally have dialogs pop up behind the main window or take the main window with them when you close them. Also, modal windows are so 3 years ago, aren't they?

Cheers,

Oliver

Oliver,

There's no access to this area. Consider using a custom pane instead.
