Hi Andrei !

This is a follow up this post as I have the same question:

I would like to add my button to an existing tab
however you said that:

...this is a restriction of the Ribbon UI: you cannot customize a built-in Ribbon group


So how did the AVG managed to add their own button to Outlook's home tab ?

Hi Roderick,

Thank you for the screenshot.

As you can see AVG adds its own ribbon group to the built-in Home tab. It is possible, you can also add your own group with your controls to an existing ribbon tab.

Oh that's great. My interpretation was default TAB cannot
be customised.
