Word add-in does not show up in Windows 7 64bit

Hi all,

I have a problem with a Word add-in not being loaded in Word 2010 + Windows 7 64bit. adxregistrator.log seems to be ok (finished with '11:47:38 The add-in registration process is completed with HRESULT = 0') but there is not adxloader.log. The same add-in works in Windows XP and even Windows 7 32bit. I even managed to reproduce the problem with a small add-in which I am sending by email.

Hi David,

Thank you for providing me with a sample add-in project. It works like a charm on my PC with Office 2010 x64. May I see the adxregistrator.log file too?

Is the UAC (User Account Control) enabled (set to its default level) in Windows 7?

Thanks for the fast response. UAC is enabled but I got the same result when I had switched it off. I noticed that the machine's configuration is Windows 7 64 + Office 2010 32 (not 64).

Hi David,

May I see the adxregistrator.log file? How do you deploy the add-in?

Hi Eugene,

I tried one real machine Windows 7 64 + Office 2010 32 and one virtual Windows 7 64 + Office 2010 32. Both fail to load the addin. Now I have tried that virtual machine with Office 2010 64 and it works so it seems the problem is in the combination of Windows 64 + Office 32.

I deploy using setup project created by Add-in Express.

Hi David,

May I see the adxregistrator.log and adxloader.log files from the problematic PC? Typically you can find it in the <My Documents>\Add-in Express folder.

Hi David,

Thank you for providing me with the adxregistrator.log and adxloader.log files.

I have noticed that you keep the UAC (User Account Control) disabled in Windows 7. Please try to enable it (set to its default level). You can read more about this in the http://www.add-in-express.com/docs/net-tips.php#UAC-Vista section in the online documentation. Does it do the trick?

BTW I still can't reproduce the issue on my PC with Windows 7 (UAC is enabled).

Hi Eugene,

UAC did the trick on Windows 7 64 + Office 2010 64 but it did not help on Windows 7 64 + Office 2010 32. Here is the adxregistrator.log (adxloader.log was not created).

Hi David,

Please make sure that you run the setup.exe (not msi). Does it help?

BTW Are you able to reproduce the issue with a newly created add-in project? If so, could you please organize a remote session. I will take a look at the issue online.

Hi Eugene,

Running setup.exe did not help. I have already reproduced this with a newly created add-in. If you agree, we can arrange a remote session on Monday.
