I noticed a problem when using Web View Form Regions with Outlook 2010 Beta 1 and ADX 2009 (.2024?). The Windows Form wasn't getting displayed at all! I tried the same thing with ADX 2010 and the problem went away.
Questions:
- Is this a known issue? I didn't see it in the list of fixes/new features for ADX 2010
- Does this behavior still occur with Outlook 2010 RTM? (haven't installed it yet)?
I'm aware that the window structures in Outlook 2010 changed (especially in the Explorer), and caused many add-ins that do Win32API-style window grafting (such as Xobni) to have painting issues with their form overlays. I'm guessing this is the same issue that causes the above problem in ADX 2009, and that your team brilliantly found a way around it before Microsoft has had a chance to release documentation about the changes publicly.
Can you comment at all publicly about the new window handles that are required to do the same kind of window grafting that Advanced Form Regions is now doing successfully in ADX 2010 against Outlook 2010? Ideally any kind of low-level descriptions on what's required that you could provide would be much appreciated! :DEric Legault [MVP - Outlook]

Hi Eric,
Yes, it is a known issue; version 2009 provides a limited support for Office 2010. Because they changed the windowing of Outlook 2010, we had to change quite a lot of things to support Outlook 2010 panes in Add-in Express 2010. Moreover, we still work on this.
I'm sorry, no details about the implementation are currently available.

Thanks Andrei. I'll keep digging. I have some high-level help on this now from a very helpful source anyway. :-)Eric Legault [MVP - Outlook]
