Add-in conflicts with LinkedIn add-in
Contact tab disappears when LinkedIn add-in is installed

Our add-in creates a new ribbon button group on the Contact tab for the individual contact inspector windows within Outlook 2007. We have noticed that for clients with LinkedIn's toolbar installed the Contact tab disappears, essentially breaking functionality for both our toolbar and LinkedIn's. As LinkedIn is a very common application it is very important for us to resolve this conflict. I noticed that the issue was also reported here:
http://www.add-in-express.com/forum/read.php?FID=5&TID=4394&MID=21464&phrase_id=1623808
I was wondering if there was currently any resolution to the problem.

Thank you very much.

Hello CJ,

Do you get any error message box?

No, there was no error message, however the Contact tab (usually the first tab on a contact inspector) is not visible.

Hello CJ,

Did you enable the following option - "Show add-in user interface errors" (see the Advanced tab of the host application)? Please make sure that this option is selected.

I get the same error message as in the thread I linked to in my original post:

Error found in Custom UI XML of "LinkedIn Outlook Toolbar":

Line: 2
Column: 12
Error Code 0x80004005
Failed to find Office control by ID
ID: TabNewMailMessage

CJ,

You reached the point! Now you can see that the error lies in the LinkedIn add-in.

I understand that the LinkedIn toolbar is throwing the UI error above, but it only causes the tab to disappear when our Add-in Express add-in is installed on the machine so we are required to come up with a workaround, do you have any suggestions?

Hello CJ,

Can you reproduce the issue with a regular VSTO add-in?
