AddinBeginShutdown not firing

Does anyone know why AddinBeginShutdown would fail to fire (this is an Outlook-only Addin)? I don't have any references to Outlook objects open, just a couple of fabricated recordsets.

Is there a better event to use?

P.S. I've ported the add-in from VB6 to VB.NET, so I suspect I might have left some object reference unreleased. Still, shouldn't the event fire in any case?
