I want to add a button in ribbon group Names on TabNewMessage. But I saw some one said "Unfortunately the Ribbon UI doesn't allow to add controls to existing groups. ", Why? Is there any work around way?

Hello Chen,

This is by design from Microsoft. No workaround is available.

Thanks Andrei.
I have another question.

In outlook 2003, when you compose a email, in the inspector command bar, there is a bar with Send button, address book button etc., what is that bar name. It is not a standard tool bar or a menu bar. I want to add a button in it. is that possible?

Hello Chen,

In Outlook 2003 mail inspectors, the Send button is located on the Standard toolbar. Yes, you can add custom button to this toolbar.

Andrei,
are you sure that is standard tool bar? Go to View/Tool Bar, abd try to hide the standard tool bar, you will see you cannot hide it.

Thank you for your reply.

Chen,

Oh, I see.

If you clear the "Use Word to edit e-mail messages" flag in Outlook 2003 (see Tools | Options Mai Format), then in mail inspectors, the Send button is located on the Standard toolbar. Yes, you can hide or show it via the View | Toolbars menu.

If however the flag is checked, Outlook shows a Word inspector to edit an e-mail message. In this case, the Send button is located on a special toolbar called Envelope. Microsoft Doesn't provide a way to customize it, unfortunately.
