Cannot get an Add-in to show up in COM Add-ins Dialog Box

I have tried 'MyFirstAddIn' project and it works fine except that I cannot get it to show in COM Add-ins Dialog Box of both Word and Office XP.

I have read http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316723.

I have checked and found HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\AddIns\MyFirstAddIn.AddinModule.

I have checked RegisterForAllUsers property to be false and SupportedApps to be Excel;Word.

What else could be wrong?

Hi Kitinon.

Did you register the add-in via the "Register ADX Project" option after you have set the SupportedApps property to Excel;Word?
The fact is that, you need to register an add-in whenever you change the SupportedApps property.

Hi Sergey,

I did "Register ADX Project" many times and it is always successful. However, I have never seen the add-in name show up in Excel's "Tools->Add-ins.." or Word's "Tools->Templates And Add-ins..." at all.

Hi Kitinon.

Just open the "Tools->COM Add-ins..." dialog in Excel or Word and you will see your add-in.

Sorry to bother you again, Sergey. But this is no "COM Add-ins..." under Tools menu in my Excel XP (or Word XP).
Only "Add-ins.." in Excel and "Templates and Add-ins..." in Word.

Kitinon, try the following:

1. Open the Customize dialog in Excel or Word.
2. Choose the Commands tab.
3. Click on the Tools categories.
4. Find the "COM Add-ins..." command in the list on the left.
5. Drag the "COM Add-ins..." command over to the Tools menu in Excel or Word.
6. Close the Customize dialog.
7. Open the "COM Add-ins..." dialog via the command that you have just added to the Tools menu.
