XLL Fails to Load When XLSX file is double-clicked to start Excel

I've created an XLL add-in that has some user-defined functions in it. If I start Excel by going to Start|All Programs|Microsoft Office|Excel 2007 then the XLL works fine. However, if I start Excel by double-clicking on an XLSX file from Windows Explorer, the add-in does not seem to load. Function calls to my UDFs return #NAME. If I then exit Excel, restart as described above, and then double-click Excel everything works fine.

If anybody has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
