Uninstalling doen't clear registry
Word 2003 and Outlook 2003 continues to display empty toolbars

After uninstalling an add-in created with ADX, the registry still contains the settings under \\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns\NameOfTheAddIn - it contains values such as ADXStartMode, LoadBehaviour, FriendlyName etc. as well as sub-keys CommandBars and Controls.

The result is that Outlook and Word (2003 versions) display an empty toolbar.

Same procedure on Office 2007 works perfectly, so I guess Office 2007 handles the situation better than 2003.

So my question is: What do I need to add to the setup project, in order for it to correctly uninstall when using Office 2003?

Hello Thomas,

I have a bunch of questions for you:

1. What OS do you use? Is it up to date?
2. What version and build number of Add-in Express do you use?
3. Can you reproduce the issue with a new clear add-in?

2. version 4.4.1912
3. I haven't tried this, but I will create a new emtpy add-in and try it

Hi Bargholz,

Please try installing Add-in Express 2008.4.4.1913. You can download it http://www.add-in-express.com/downloads/adxnet.php. Don't forget to replace the adxloader.dll in the Loader folder with a new one.

Please let me know the results whether it helps.

I have some further information:

The add-in add's to both Word and Outlook. And the problem is actually an Outlook specific problem.
The add-in infact does clear the registry correctly. But the commandbars are not removed from Outlook.

And if Outlook is using Word as a mail editor, then the problem is, that the Outlook specific commandbars stay in Word after the add-in is uninstalled.
The Word specific commandbars are correctly removed.

I'm sure that the information about the problem being Outlook specific key to finding out what the problem is. Any ideas based on this information?

I havn't tried the 1913 build yet, but will do so now.

Regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Please try installing the latest build of Add-in Express and let me know whether it helps.

Could you send a sample add-in project which can reproduce the issue to the support e-mail address (see readme.txt)?

Hi Thomas,

We always recommend using Temporary = True for Outlook command bars. If you have Temporary = False, then you must remove those command bars manually (see View | Customize in Outlook).

Also we insist on having Temporary = False for Word command bars and all command bar controls that you create.

This should help you to solve the issue.

That's it! After chaging Outlook commandbars to Temporary = True, then the uninstall worked perfectly. Thanks for the help :D
