Word toolbar in outlook

I've create a Word Add-in (using ADX .NET 2.2) with a toolbar and I've set the "supportedApps" property to "Word" only.

However, I am occasionally seeing the toolbar also in Outlook and the Word Add-in is actually running in Outlook! Are there any other settings that I should be aware of?

Thanks

Hi Johannes.

I suppose you have set Word as an editor in Outlook. If so, the Word add-in will be loaded in Outlook too. To disable this Outlook feature open the Options dialog and choose the Mail Format tab. Then uncheck the following options:
"Use Microsoft Office Word to edit e-mail messages"
"Use Microsoft Office Word to read Rich Text e-mail messages"

I understand that the Add-In recognizes its immediate host as Word in this case, but I was wondering if it is possible to detect Word as being hosted by Outlook and show/hide the toolbar accordingly.

Thanks

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not realized a feature allowing to detect whether Word was run as a host or as hosted by Outlook.
