Hi,

I'd like to buy Add-in Express .NET.
But as you don't have a trial version I'd like to ask two important questions.
We want to develop an Outlook Add-In which can send automatically customized mails by the user pressing a button.
Here my questions:

1. Can this Add-In be installed without admin rights on all Outlook Versions if .Net 2.0 is present?

2. Do I have to buy separatley the product "Security Manager 2007" to send these mails with the Outlook Add-In without a security warning?

Hi Hans,

1. Yes, you can install an add-in without administrator right for a particular user (not for all users on the PC).

2. Please have a look at the http://www.add-in-express.com/add-in-net/featurematrix.php. See the "Bypassing the Outlook E-mail Security Guard on Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007" row in the table.

Thak you for the quick answer!

To question nr. 1: That's great. To be sure .Net 2.0 for all Outlook versions is enough to do a none admin install for single user installs, nothing else is needed?

To question nr. 2: That means (Standard 349 + Outlook Sec Guard 149) is cheaper then (Premium 949 inluding Sec Guard). So it's probably smarter to buy these products separately (as I don't see any advantage in the Premium product for us). Can I use these two products together easily?

Hello Hans,

If .NET Framework is installed, no other actions require administrative privileges when installing an Outlook add-in on all Outlook versions. I can create and send you a simple add-in for testing.

Thank you! I received the sample add-in.

My question:
There are 2 files (setup.exe and a .msi file). Why 2?
Which file is for what and does that mean I'd have to always send two files to deploy the add-in?

Hi Hans,

Please read more about Windows Installer http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc185688(VS.85).aspx. You can use the msi file only.
