How do you can guarantee compatibility between all office versions? I mean if I want to write MANAGED addin in c#, can I use your suite to produce only ONE project and accordingly ONE setup project which would be sufficient to install.
AFAIK e.g. Outlook 2003 project will require 2003 PIA's, XP - XP PIA's ... and so on...
Thanks for clear and prompt reply on advance.

Hello Max,

Add-in Express is fully compatible with Office 2000, XP and 2003 since we don't use PIAs in its source code.

Sure, you can use them with Add-in Express without any problems. For example, we develop our internal projects with the Office 2000 PIA. It allows us to run our add-ins on all Office versions. Simply we don't call features that are unique for Office 2003 or XP.

Hi Eugene,

do you have a download Link for the Office 2000 PIA's? Can't find them on the Web.

Hi Matthias,

We haven't published this pia and we don't have any plans to do this. We use 2000 PIA only for internal purposes.

Forgot to explain why.

When we generated 2000 PIA we have several errors like this http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316653. Moreover, from time to time we find other error. That is why we will not publish our pia.

BTW, I'd like to list here several useful links to MSDN articles related to Office 2000 but found out that these articles had been removed. It looks like it's high time for us to stop supporting Office 2000.

Thats why i asked about them ;) I could only find resources from Microsoft to PIA's for Outlook 2002, XP and 2003. So i think they won't support 2000 anymore.

Yes, MS have published only XP and 2003 PIAs.

Matthias,

How do you think, will you support Office 2000 in your future projects?

Well, good question. Will look if i find some reports about the percentage of use from different Outlook Versions. Would help alot :)

But i think, because we are using custom xml views - which works only from Outlook 2002 and up, the support will be a minimum.

Great idea! I will tell our webmaster to do this task. Perhaps, we will get some results.
