I'm wondering if it is possible to add the yellow highlight to my custom ribbon tab. Like this example.

Do you mean the 'Drawing Tools' contextual tab?

I'm not 100% clear on the terminology here, but I'll try.

If I add a custom tab e.g. "Custom Tab" can I cause the highlight (contextual tab) to show up at certain times. Can I make a new contextual tab that appears over "Custom Tab"

you can use the ADXRibbonTab component with the 'PowerPoint.TabSetDrawingTools' value set in the Context property.

Thanks, that works with the built in context list.

Is it possible to setup a custom context and enable/disable it programmatically.

Jeremy, you can use the Visible property of the ADXRibbonTab component to enable/disable your tab whenever you need it.

Setting visible works fine, but I just want to make sure there isn't some way to make a custom contextual tab show above my tab.

No, you can only use the built-in Ribbon contexts to create custom contextual tabs.
