Hi,

Two questions:
1. Since which version of ADX .Net Windows Vista is supported?

2. We're creating a setup.exe of InstallShield which installs the add-in (adxloader.dll), since we install other things along with the add-in itself. Should it be a problem with Vista?

Hi Nir.

1. Add-in Express supports Vista since v3.1.
2. It depends on what you install. Try not to register the add-in during the installation process. Probably it will help you to find the cause of the error.

P.S. Note that we take up your forum requests in the order we receive them. Besides, it may take us some time to investigate your issue. Please be sure we will let you know as soon as the best possible solution is found.

Hi Sergey,

1. From our recent tests with version 2.7 it seems to work fine (registered for all users) - all the users can see the add-in in the AddIns tab of Excel 2007. Is there anything else we should pay attention to?

2.
Try not to register the add-in during the installation
What do you mean? When else?

Probably it will help you to find the cause of the error
What do you mean? We didn't receive an error during the installation...

Nir,

1. I meant that Add-in Express 2007 v3.1 and later can only be installed on Vista. I think COM add-ins shoud work fine in any case.

2. Do you register the loader via regsvr32 tool during the installation process?

Hi Sergey,

1. Do you mean that when I upgrade to the latest version, I can't use the add-in on Windows XP? Again, I think I misunderstood you...

2. Currently we're using InstallShield's file registration (we don't explicitly call regsvr32), but that might change in the future, since we noticed that upgrading doesn't work properly this way.

Thanks,
Nir

Nir,
The Add-in Express product and Add-in Express based add-ins work in Window 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista without problems.

If you use the file registration feature, the DllRegisterServer and DllunregisterServer functions of the adxloader will never be called. Please change the setup in that way to call these functions during the installation process (I think you will find the information about it in the InstallShield help).

Hi Sergey,

Thanks, you're right...

What can be the implications of this on the add-in?

Nir.

Hi Nir.

Your controls may not be uninstalled from the host application during the uninstallation process.
