Missing Items

I have an AddIn that has some static items (created at design time) and some items are added dynamically. All items are temporary.

For some reason the dynamically added items some times don't show up. The only way I have been able to restore them is to delete the normal.dot and reinstall the AddIn or use the COM Add-In menu.

However, that's not ideal, is there a way I can determine that those items are missing and re-add them. Remember these are dyanamically added items already so I'm actually adding them every time. There just seems to be something wrong.

Hi John.

Do you add controls dynamically to your own command bar or to the built-in one?

P.S. Note that we take up your forum requests in the order we receive them.
Besides, it may take us some time to investigate your issue. Please be sure we will let you know as soon as the best possible solution is found.

Controls are added into my own command bar.

Thanks.

Hi John.

In Word, I would add 'not temporary' controls and delete them before Word closes. It should prevent the controls from storing in the Normal.dot.
Please try this approach. Let me know if it doesn't help.

Thanks Sergey. I would give that a try. But what would happen if Word crashes and I don't have time to delete them? Will that mess me up?

What about the controls that were added in design time? Should those be temporary or permanent?

Hi John.

If you use the permanent command bars/controls created at the design time, Add-in Express will save them to the Normal.dot while Word starts. Thus the controls should remain in Word anyway.
As to the dynamic controls, if Word crashes, the consequences are not predictable.

What about the controls that were added in design time? Should those be temporary or permanent?

Please set the 'Temporary = false' for the design time controls.

The Temporary = false, and that did nothing. Once the Normal.dot is out of synch it doesn't seem that I can get it back in synch. Any other ideas?
