Missing Excel Add-In for other users

Hi,
We have developed an addin for Excel using MVS .Net 2003 and Add-in express. We have two components - an application toolbar and a user-defined-functions addin. When we run the addin setup in user A, we can see the application toolbar on Excel menu and user-defined-functions addin under Tools/Add-Ins menu. But if another user B logins to the same PC, he only sees the application toolbar on Excel menu. The user-defined-functions addin is missing from Tools/Add-Ins menu on Excel.

We have noticed one difference in the registry entries. The below registry key entry is present for user A but missing for user B ----- "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options" has this entry --> OPEN6 = /A "<app-name>.Functions"

Could you please let us know what are we missing here ?
Thanks in advance.
Hemant.

Hi Hemant.

Now ADX based Excel Automation Add-ins are registered for the current user only. So please try to export the registry key from the user's account A to the user's account B. It should help. We will fix this issue in the next ADX build.

P.S. Note that we take up your forum requests in the order we receive them.
Besides, it may take us some time to investigate your issue. Please be sure we will let you know as soon as the best possible solution is found.

Hi Sergey,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The problem is -- in our organization, individual users can not install the addin so it has to be installed under admin user on each PC and because of this, the individual users can not see the user-defined-functions addin under Tools/Add-Ins menu.
The exporting registry for each user doesn't look professional.
This problem is stopping us to make production release.

When can we expect a new ADX build with the fix ?

Thanks again,
Hemant.

Hi Hemant.

I think we will publish a new ADX build this week. Moreover a new ADX build will allow to register COM add-ins under the user's account.

Hi Sergey,
Do you mean, COM add-in has to be registered in each user by admin ?
When admin installs the addin, how it will go to each user's registry ?

Hemant, I meant that a COM add-in can be installed by the user without administrative privileges.

However in this case the add-in will be installed for the current user only.

Hi Sergey,
As I mentioned earlier, in our organization, individual user doesn't have write permission to C: drive and no user can install any software under C:\Program Files\ folder. Because of this restriction, the add-in has to be installed by admin on each PC. We hope the new ADX build will resolve our problem.

Hemant, do users have access to the 'My Documents' personal folder?
