Opening external EML & showing region in Inspector

I have a special region which is displayed for certain mails.
If I open an external EML and Outlook is already running in the background, my region is displayed correctly.
However, if I open the external EML without Outlook already running in the background, Outlook starts but the region is not displayed.

What's the difference? Any idea where I could look?

Hello Bernd,

I assume, when started in this way, the inspector window is opened modally. Is this so? Also, if I remember correctly, the add-in isn't loaded at this moment: it loads in a brief moment between the user closing the inspector and Outlook application quitting.

Yes, it's loaded like this. Do you know a check, if outlook is loaded
like this for showing a message?

Hello Bernd,

I think in this case the add-in doesn't load at all. Meaning, you won't be able to show a message. You can check if the AddinInitialize or OnRibbonBeforeCreate event is fired in this case: if it doesn't fire, the add-in isn't loaded.
