I developed a Word addin that creates a new toolbar with a single button. I show a form when the button is clicked. The problem I'm having is that the toolbar and button work perfectly the first time I open Word, but if I close and re-open Word then the toolbar is shown but the button is missing. Any ideas what could be causing this? It happens on my development machine and also on other machines that I deploy this to. If I "register" the addin twice in a row (without unregistering) from Visual Studio then the button seems to stay across Word sessions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any Adobe toolbars installed in Word?

Hi Sergey,

Yes, Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Trial. I have since uninstalled it. What is the nature of the conflict here? Is there a workaround since we will be deploying this to numerous customers who may or may not have other addins installed.

I found the related post from Jeroen addressing the known bug.

I came across some sites that address workarounds for this bug 906899.
