I am not a programmer by nature so forgive me if i missed something.
I have an outlook addin developed using VSTO and Add in xpress for VSTO.
it is fine on the DEV machine but loads very slow on any production machines.
I thought it may be my code and was pulling my hair out, but i tried a new project verbatim as to what is shown here
http://www.add-in-express.com/docs/vsto-outlook-plugins.php
even with this simple addin my outlook will take an additional 8 to 20 secionds to open and load the tool bar abnd be ready for use.
is this normal for outlook addins that use toolbars like this example. Or is something else possibly wrong.
it has been tried on several other machines like a off domain laptop, stand alone machines etc..
with similar results.
thanks again and if nay more information is needed i would be more than happy to provide it.
thanks

Hi Dave.

Is the add-in loaded slow for the first start only?

P.S. Note that we take up your forum requests in the order we receive them.
Besides, it may take us some time to investigate your issue. Please be sure we will let you know as soon as the best possible solution is found.

thanks for the speedy reply Sergey,
yes it is slow on the first load ( read all about this here on the forums)
but is also slow from then on, after a reboot, etc...
I have triple checked my .net settings and they are all good. (i use a installer class to set them up, but the behavior for the addin is the same regardless of installing the SDK on the target and using the .net config tool to manually grant full trust to the assemblies)
my code is to the point where the buttons load on the bars but no code is assigned to them( as part of trouble shooting i recreated the project from scratch several times)
If any one has any intersted in testing this on one of their non dev machines i would be more than happy to zip it up and email it.
thanks again,
David

Hi Dave.

You can send me the project if you wish. I will test it on my PC.
Also please try to clear the dll cache. Probably the problem is in the size of the cache.

Dave, I meant the following cache:

<System Drive:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Assembly\dl2>

<System Drive:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Assembly\dl3>

i hav ecleared the cache with no results.
I did a fresh install of windows xp and sp2 and office 2003 sp2 and all the pre-reqs.
Te add in would load in about 3 to 7 seconds after the first time.
ONce the machine is joined to our windows 2003 Active directory domain the add in takes at least 30 seconds to load.
I have checked my gpo's and see nothing funky.
I have it set to use otlook security settings in public folder with everything checked to allow on page two of that form.
Running as domain admin or end user makes no differance.
IF anyone has any ideas on the forum of places i could start digging or looking please let me know.
thanks
David
