My add-in installs and works fine. It actually uninstalls just fine also, but in doing so a box pops up that says "The operation failed due to an installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall.". It appears that outlook is poping this error up even though it's not running, the installer is doing the uninstall.

Hi.

The fact is that ADX installer creates an Outlook instance while the add-in is uninstalled. Probably other add-ins installed in Outlook don't process this situation properly. Do you have any other add-ins running in Outlook?

This is on a clean virtual machine; no add-ins, fresh Win XP and Outlook 2003. Actually we have tried it on customer machines and our own machines. It seems pretty universal.

Hi.

For some reason I can't reproduce this issue on my PC.
Do you have SP2 for MS Office installed on the PCs?

No we don't install any SP's on the test machines because there is a very good change that customers won't have them installed either.

Hi.

Have you installed the SP2 for Office 2003 yet. Does the issue still exist?

We don't want to force customers to have any SP's so we never tested it that way. Today we removed the shim and went with the loader. Everything appears fine.
