adxloader.dll.manifest and generating log files

Hello,

We have recently upgraded to ADX 9.4 and are not seeing log files being generated. We were using the 'adxloader.dll.manifest' file to control whether logging was enabled or not, via the 'generateLogFile' attribute, but now this setting does not seem to be respected...

Is the 'adxloader.dll.manifest' file still the supported way to control log file generation? Or maybe this has changed?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Zach,

Yes, adxloader.dll.manifest is supported. What's changed is the log's default location. Below is a citation from the Add-in Express manual; see section Get details about add-in loading in the PDF file in {Add-in Express installation folder}\Docs on you development machine:

If the manifest requires creating a log file (see the generateLogFile attribute at Add-in Express Loader Manifest), the log file (adxloader.log) is created in the location specified by the manifest or in {user profile}\AppData\Local\Temp\<ProductName>\adxloader.log; the ProductName part reflects the ProductName field of AssemblyInfo.cs (AssemblyInfo.vb). The log file is rewritten when the Office application loads your add-in.

Andrei,

Thank you for your very timely and helpful response. I do see the log file at the new location.

Thanks,

Zach
