Hi Add-in Express Team,

Our company have one Add-in product for more than 5 years, which is based on Add-in Express for .NET. it works perfect in this 5 years. but recently, we found more and more Add-in compatible issues are reported by our customers. I would like to know if you can give us some good practice or suggestions.

as you know, our add-in express are always latest. on production, we use 8.2.4371.0 as follow

Add-in Express Registrator Log File: 01/10/2019 16:50:56

Installation directory: C:WINDOWSInstaller
Registrator version: 8.2.4371.0
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise Edition (build 17134), 64-bit

we plan to upgrade it to Add-in Express 2019 this year. to upgrade it smoothly, one question for you, if another company's Add-in, suppose Add-in X, which is based on Add-in Express 7.x.xxx.x. when it's installed on the same computer with our add-in, will they be conflict ?

Thanks

Hello Roy,

Add-ins may conflict. The answer to your question is No, the add-ins do not conflict simply because they use different Add-in Express versions. There's something else. What issue do you have? Is this by any chance showing an Add-in Express pane outside of the host application's window in Office 2016? If so, check https://www.add-in-express.com/creating-addins-blog/2018/09/24/panes-problems-solved/.

Hello Roy,

Such cases should be solved individually. In your case, it would be better if we start with studying the log files (adxregistrator.log and adxloader.log) that each involved add-in creates.

I would suggest that you find out two add-ins that let you reproduce the issue; turn all other COM add-ins off, and provide log files created before and while you reproduce the issue. Please send the log files and a description of what you did to the support email address; find it in {Add-in Express installation folder}\readme.txt; please make sure your email contains a link to this topic.
