Hi Guys,
Lots of our users updated their Office today, which included KB4011178 (Office 2013) and KB4011162 (Office 2016)- I think these updates were released yesterday. The updates have severely affected our Outlook Add-in. Our ribbon button is not working. Our events, after an email is sent, is doing nothing. Our add-in is visible, its not disabled but its not functioning.
After you remove these updates for locally installed 2013 & 2016, its back to normal, working again. However, a large portion of our clients are on Office 365, where its very difficult to roll back these updates.
Are you aware of these issues? Do you have any suggestions or actions to take?
Kind Regards,
Tim and Sean |

Hi Sean, Alexander and Thomas,
In the scope of the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20171010/security-update-for-vulnerabilities-in-windows-server-2008, Microsoft disabled the Home Page functionality in Outlook 2010 - 2016. Today this update has been applied to Office 365 subscribers that have Outlook 2016 installed via Click-To-Run.
The WebViewPane advanced Outlook region cannot work after installing this Security update. Ribbon controls and their events, Outlook events and the solution module work in our test environments.
Guys, please provide more information about your projects. If you have some demo projects that show the issues you've faced - please send them to our support email address. |

I use the WebViewPane ADX functionality extensively. Are you saying this is no longer supported? |

Hi all,
we also use WebViewPane ADX functionality to navigate between different views how suggested from you.
Does Microsoft offer any other possibility to show a form there?
Best regards,
Tobias |

At the moment we don?Â?Ð?ét see any way to "reanimate" the WebViewPane region, sorry. I would recommend that you choose another region type (not WebViewPane) for your project. Please download and test this example:
https://www.add-in-express.com/projects/forum/WebViewEmulate.zip
It shows the FolderView region for the Temp subfolder of the Inbox folder of the default Outlook store. This FolderView region is as close to WebViewPane as it could possibly be. |

It was the only way to show something (a web page) instead of a list of items and Reading pane. |

Hi Andreas,
Thank you for the workaround, I have just tested it with Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016 and can confirm the EnableRoamingFolderHomepages=1 registry value reverts the Home Page back. The Folder.WebViewURL and Folder.WebViewOn properties also work in this case.
But of course we don't know if it breaks the security patch which caused the issue intially...
Hopefully Microsoft will publish some information regarding this registry value or provide another legal, documented and well commented way that would allow us to use this functionality. |
