As part of our product Cadac Organice Explorer, we have an Office integration, in there we use Add-in Express to supply the user with an additional menu in Word. When this Addin in Word is enabled and active, a problem occurs when the user tries to print the word document. When the user hits the print button, Word first asks in a dialog ?Â?Ð?ìUpdate Table of Contents?Â?Ð?í, the user hits ?Â?Ð?ìOK?Â?Ð?í and now Word crashes and stops with the following message ?Â?Ð?ìMicrosoft Word has stopped working?Â?Ð?í with the following problem details:

The issue does not occur when the Addin is disabled and also doesn?Â?Ð?ét occur when the update table of contents is disabled through the Word option ?Â?Ð?ìFile | Options | Display | Update fields before printing?Â?Ð?í. We investigated this problem and found that it is caused by Add-in Express. We traced the issue as far as your tool.
We originally were using your product version 6.4.3056.2005.
We upgraded to 7.7.4087.2005 hoping the problem is resolved but sadly the issue remained in that version.
I searched thru the forums for similar problems without luck.
Is there a way to resolve this ?
Is the issue known to you?

Hello Pieter,

We aren't aware of this problem.

Does this occur for a specific document, printer or paper size? Does this occur if other COM add-ins are turned off?

If the issue is reproducible on a sample add-in, please send us the sample add-in project to the support email address; you can find it in {Add-in Express installation folder}\readme.txt. Please make sure your email contains a link to this topic. Also please specify the bitness of Word.

Hello Andrei,

It occurs each time no matter what document, printer or paper size. We are using Word 2010. I tried to reproduced in with your sample add-in but did not succeed. We now found another way to avoid the issue. We avoid updating the button tool bar when printing the document, and that seems to solve the issue. It seems to be the combination of the dialog "Update Table of Contents" and the update of the button tool bar which is causing the issue.

So for now thank you
Kind Regards
Pieter
