I can manually add user properties to my inbox using "Field Chooser", then "User-Defined in Inbox", is there a way I can programatically add these.

Hello Tom,

The third parameter of UserProperties.Add must be true to achieve this; see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff867389%28v=office.15%29.aspx.
