Just like regular Excel functions e.g IF

Hi there

Apologies if this has been asked before - I couldn't find it.

When you look at a regular Excel in-cell function in the Insert Function dialog, the names of the mandatory parameters are bold, the optional params are non-bold (have a look at the IF function for an example).

I have defined a (VB.NET) function with several optional parameters but all param names are shown in bold in the wizard. Is it possible to replicate the regular Excel function behaviour?

Thanks again

Hi David,

This is impossible. Excel knows about built-in functions; it treats them in a way which isn't availble for a UDF.

OK - thanks, Andrei. Is this also the reason why I don't get nice tooltips when I am entering one of my functions into a worksheet?

Yes. If you would ever be able to get those tooltips (in editing mode) for UDFs, many people around the world would thank you dearly. The closest thing you can get can be achieved by clicking Ctrl+Shift+A while typing your UDF signature.
