MAPI Accessor Installation Fails at end of installation

I downloaded the MAPI Accessor add-in install files from your site... the installation seems to go fine, but at the very end it pops up with an error and rolls back the installation.

This is the error that pops up:

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup
did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I'm running Windows XP, Visual Studio 2005, 2.0 .NET Framework.

Thanks

Hi Kris,

Could you please tell me the service packs number for OS and Visual Studio? Also please make sure that you installed the http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=766A6AF7-EC73-40FF-B072-9112BAB119C2&displaylang=en security update.

Thanks for your response.

We don't use C++, we're a VB.net shop. Would it even make sense for us
to install the C++ service pack?

Here's the info for Visual Studio 2005:

Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200)

Here's the info for our .NET Framework:

Version 2.0.50727 SP2

Here's the info for Windows XP:

Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Hi Kris,

The Visual C++ SP1 is required for the MAPI Store Accessor, not VB.NET.

Also please check out the http://support.positscience.com/positscience/topics/how_to_adjust_dep_settings_xp_and_vista settings on your PC. It should be set to the following value Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.

Eugene... thanks again.

I installed the C++ SP1 and verified the DEP setting (it was correct). I tried the install again and it failed the same way. I then rebooted and tried again with the same result.

Any other ideas?

Hi Kris,

Could you please organize a remote session? I will take a look at the issue online.

I will work on getting that setup and will let you know. It may not be until Monday of next week due to other priorities for today. Thanks again. I appreciate your help so far.

Kris,

Okay. Please keep me notified. As a workaround if you want I can send you the entire dll.

That would be great, about sending the DLL. I have to switch gears to another project, so it may be awhile before I'm able to setup a remote session, etc.
