Hi,

we have developed an extension for Internet Explorer 11 but when disabling it in Add-On Manager the extension is still active and running.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks

Hello Ingo,

Try to uninstall your add-on, then start IE, turn all the remaining add-ons, close IE, install your add-on, and check if the issue persists.

Sincerely, everything I know denies the possibility to achieve this sort of behavior.

Hi Andrei,

do I understand correctly that the situation I explained in my initial post cannot be caused by our add-on code or by the code of add-in express?

Thanks

I confirm that you cannot achieve this programmatically.

Hi Andrei,

I've tried your suggestion but I still see activities of our add-on.
The only difference between the state active and inactive is that the add-on icon is not visible in the toolbar when the add-on is deactivated.

I've tested it on Windows 7 and Windows 10 using IE11.

Can you suggest a workaround or would it be possible to fix this in the add-in express code?

Regards

Hello Ingo,

Does your project consists of a BHO and toolbar (IE bar)? If so, could it be that you turn off one of the extensions only and the other one still works? Try to turn off all other IE extensions.

Hi Andrei,

you are right, there are two items for our extension in the add-on manager of Internet Explorer, one of them is the BHO.
Unfortunately it is not possible to manage this item, i.e. you cannot disable/enable this item.

Any hints?

Thanks

Hello Ingo,

In my experience whenever I turn an extension off, IE suggests closing the other extensions associated with this one.

Could you please capture a video demonstrating the issue and send it to us? You can use Jing; it's free. You can find the support email address in {Add-in Express installation folder}\readme.txt. Please make sure your email contains a link to this topic.

Hello Ingo,

Thank you for the video.

Whatever I do, I can't reproduce the issue. Could you please create a sample IE add-on project, add a toolbar to it, and reproduce the issue? If the issue is reproducible, please send me this project.

Hi Andrei,

can the BHO find out if the toolbar part of the extension is disabled by the user?

Thanks
