Firing an exception on loading Powerpoint

I've just created an almost blank addin (PPTest1) with a commandbar, two buttons with captions and glyphs but no code. After registering it I loaded Powerpoint 2003 (Small business edition with all available updates) but got an error message appearing twice:

Error - PPTTest1 error. the addin has fired an exception. Unspecified error.
When PowerPoint finished loading the toolbar was there with four buttons not two, and no glyphs showing.

Removing the buttons from the add-in stopped the exception from appearing, but unregistering the ActiveX control using the run menu option still leaves the toolbar showing in the tools list in PowerPoints View menu

I'm using the latest release of Add-In-Express VCL in Delphi 7 Pro on Windows XP Pro with all available patches and updates. Any ideas please?

do you use the latest premium release? the bug is fixed there.

Hello Nick,

I have just tested this, works fine. I use Delphi 7, Office 2003 (fully updated) and ADX version 2.2 build 219.

Can I send you a link to the latest build of Add-in Express to test the problem?

Yes please Dmitry, I thought it might be because PPnt 2003 runs an antivirus check on startup. Just checked my email and found your message, Boy you guys are fast, many thanks for the prompt service, I'll let you know how it goes with the latest build

Hi Dmitry,

Just installed the new build and it works fine - no exceptions. The toolbar seems to have several buttons on it, 6 times as many as there should be, but the two I just added have the glyphs and hints showing, so I guess the others are leftovers from previous failed attempts. whats the best way to get rid of them? I tried the unregister six times to see if that would work, but they are still there.

Unregister your add-in, open PowerPoint, right-click on the toolbar, click Customize, right-click on these "frozen" buttons and click Delete.
