Does anyone know how to deal with ATP when trying to save incoming emails in an add-in?

The problem arises when trying to save emails that are still being scanned but how do you tell if it is still being scanned?

Thanks

Hello Mark,

What is ATP?

You can start a same-thread small-delay timer when you detect the email and handle the email when the timer event fires.

How do I find incoming emails? I assume emails are "being scanned" by Outlook, correct?

Hi Andrei

ATP, is Microsoft "Advanced Threat Protection" virus scanner.

Yes, I tried delaying things but unfortunately, the ATP scan can sometimes take a very long time.

Just thought there may be some way of checking the email or attachment status.

Thanks

Hello Mark,

I don't have such information. If I happen to obtain any, I'll post it here.

Hi Andrei

Thanks. FYI, I did find a work around.

When the ATP is scanning the document, it comes into the inbox but with the attachment names changed to "ATP scan in progress". After it has finished, it appears in the inbox again but with the attachment names restored.

So in my inbox routine, I'm quickly going through the attachments in the email. If any have the "ATP scan in progress" name, I simply skip that email.

Regards

Mark
