Recommended installation folders for an add-in registered with user privileges

I have decided to change all my add-ins to be registered with user privileges to avoid problems with users that do not have administrative rights.

In that case it is not a good idea to install the add-in the common program files folder as I have been doing so far and data and configuration files on the common program data folder.

I wonder if there are recommended folders for the add-in and for the configuration and other data used by the add-in in this situation.

Hello Manuel,

You should install a per-user add-in to AppDataFolder or LocalAppDataFolder. Note that a COM add-in doesn't roam because HKCU/Software/Classes doesn't roam; this is by Windows design.
