Andrei Smolin

Hi, My name is Andrei Smolin. I'm the Add-in Express Team Leader and head of Support Service department. 47 years old (it's 2008 at the moment of writing). I'm an optimist that has been in programming for 25+ years. I spent my early years in FORTRAN and then it was C and Pascal. After that, there was a huge lot of VB6 and VBA (Access, Excel, Word, and Visio). I managed to survive in a C# and ASP.NET highly intensive project at EPAM.com.

Now my main occupation is answering support questions that our customers send us via e-mail or post on Add-in Express forums. I like my work. Helping people is my favorite occupation. I like getting "Thank you very much!" Don't you?

My technical skills:

  • Languages: VB 6, VBA, VB.NET, C#, Delphi
  • DBMS: SQL Server, Oracle
  • Office object models: Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, Access,
  • Favorite area: programming for Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Other areas: WinSOCK, XML, database structures, OOP

Out of work occupations:

Reading books on history, physics, biology, and genetics; bringing up my black Labrador retriever - a very good and clever girl; studying English (oral, my written English is pretty good, I believe).
