Hello Eugene,

I did everything you've asked (got the latest 2007 version, replaced the adxloader.dll file), but somehow users keep contacting me with complaints that their Ribbon Tabs have disappeared sometimes... Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Bart

Hello Bart,

I looked at your code once again. Still I suspect that a non-released COM object may cause this. May I look at the latest version of your AddinModule.cs as well as the OutlookItem class and the ArchiveHandler.ArchiveItem method?

My assuption must be wrong because I can't find any such reports on the web but who knows...

Hello Bart,

I've got the solution, thank you.

May it be that the issue shows itself only when the user edits an e-mail, closes it, and then opens it anew?

Dear Andrei,

So far we've not been able to simulate the problem. Sometimes it just happens and we simply don't know why. Editing an email, closing it and reopening it doesn't seem to be a problem...

Greetings,

Bart

Hello Bart,

I can't see anything in your code that could cause the issue. May I install the add-in via say NoPlugins.msi or Olympus.msi?

What COM add-ins do your customers have installed? Did you try turning the add-ins off?

Dear Andrei,

Feel free to install the add-in and test the whole thing through. You can pick NoPlugins.msi for example, that way no other applications will be called for, which it normally does. Our customers sometimes do have an add-in like SnagIt installed, but really nothing special... We've already tried turning other plugins off, but no result.

Bart

Hi Bart.

Do your customers have SP1 for Office 2007 installed on their PCs?

Dear Sergey,

We are completely up to date with the Windows Updates, so yes.

Hi Bart.

Does Windows Update say that the user receive updates for Windows and other Microsoft software installed on the PC?
We can't reproduce the issue. Please try to create a new simple add-in with one ribbon tab and control and ask the user to install it. Let me know if the issue still occurs.

Dear Sergey,

That's exactly our point. We can't reproduce it either! Sometimes it just happens. Sometimes after opening a hunderd e-mails, sometimes after opening two e-mails.

The plugin almost everyone uses is the Pro/CRM type, which calls a batchfile, which starts up our homemade CRM application, to archive the chosen mail. This is the plugin giving the problem...
